Our Global Product Leaders (GPL) are typically located in Gaithersburg, US and Cambridge, UK. As complex, senior and highly visible roles in our company our GPLs are aligned to, and responsible for, the stewardship of leading medicines in our portfolio. They are responsible for leading the cross-functional Global Product Team to deliver the integrated global product strategy, inclusive of clinical development, medical, regulatory and integrated commercial plans.
What you’ll do
The position reports to the Global Franchise Head, ENHERTU & Breast Cancer Strategy, and key accountabilities include:
Lead the Global Product Team (GPT), which together defines and drives the strategic direction of the medicine, ensuring scientific value creation across the lifecycle including clinical development, regulatory approvals, product launch/commercialization and lifecycle management.
Find opportunities for the product strategy and drive decisions by coalescing diverse internal and external stakeholders’ interests, potentially including any alliances.
Ensure effective and efficient working across any alliances, playing a leading role on several key interface teams, including co-lead of the Joint Development Team.
Be a role model and an ambassador for the medicine/brand and for AZ
Be entrepreneurial in problem solving and increasing opportunities for the brand through shaping and driving product strategy.
Demonstrate an enterprise approach– embracing curiosity, collaboration & thoughtful risks that incorporate perspectives across R&D, Commercial and Medical into strategies and programs.

Essential for the role
Education: Scientific or medical degree, potentially coupled with marketing or commercial experience and/or degrees.
Oncology experience
Global cross functional leadership, ideally in both global R&D and commercial or medical setting
Inspirational, empowering leader in a strategic multifunctional environment
Strong decision-making capabilities and understanding how to work with a cross-functional teams to gather appropriate inputs, challenge ideas, and come to clear decisions
Excellent scientific and clinical acuity – understands the full value change of medicine and translational science
Has influenced significant functional investment decisions.
Encouraged and influenced without direct authority to deliver positive patient outcome.
Has led sophisticated projects with ambitious achievements in fast paced circumstances
Proven track record of achieving results through others, as well as coaching and developing impactful team members.
Desirable for the role
Ph.D. or masters in life sciences
Sub-team leader and worked in a Global Product Team (Early or Late stage) as a core team member
Drug development and regulatory/filing experience
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $307,587 to $369,104 Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
